• STEP 1: CHECK THE TAG

Your new tray of microgreens will have a tag to indicate to refrigerate or not. *Psst – Basil is one of the few microgreens not to be refrigerated

  • STEP 2: HARVEST AND ENJOY WITHIN 14 DAYS

Harvest gently using a pair of scissors or a very sharp knife. Do not pull upwards, you don't want to eat the roots!

  • STEP 3: DETERMINE WHEN TO WATER

Whether in the fridge or on the counter, eventually microgreens will need water.

    FRIDGE: Water every 2-3 days

    COUNTERTOP: Water every 1-2 days

SIGNS YOUR GREENS NEED H20

1. The micros are droopy and have lost their 'bounce'.

2. The tray feels much lighter when picked up.

3. Over-watered plants can also wilt. Check that the substrate is not over-saturated. Allow to dry down.

TIPS FOR WATERING

  • Water microgreens from the bottom of the tray by placing on a baking sheet or large plate filled with 1/4" of water.

  • Let sit for 2-5 minutes to absorb.

  • Remove microgreens from water and place back in the fridge or on counter

REFRIGERATION OR COUNTERTOP?

Refrigeration keeps your product fresher for longer and keeps the microgreens at their peak size, flavor, and texture. Plus, it required less watering maintenance.

Countertops are also a worthy place to store and show off your new micros. Keep in mind, microgreens on the countertop will continue to grow, and in some crops, becoming more fibrous and bitter (pea tendrils, radish, and sunflower are examples). Must check for watering more frequently.

REMINDER: Basil always strays on the counter and out of the fridge.
